Be aware it is not a live DVD, it is an installation DVD. It is meant to be installed onto a other storage medium. This can be a SD card or USB stick or drive.

Do not keep the 8GByte default for the hard disk use something as >=16GByte otherwise grub installation fails.

Use the graphical installer.

Inside the guest OS (the Raspberry PI OS Desktop) insert the Guest Additions CD Image, open a console and run

sudo sh /media/cdrom0/VBoxLinuxAdditions.run to get better support as display support.

whoami to see its username with who am I

sudo usermod -a -G vboxsf <username> to have access to the shared folder

sudo chown -R <username>:users /media/<dir>

It might happen that the graphical software update will fail due to time not synchronized.

sudo nano /etc/systemd/timesyncd.conf and add a ntp close to you

FallbackNTP=0.ch.pool.ntp.org 1.ch.pool.ntp.org \
2.ch.pool.ntp.org 3.ch.pool.ntp.org

then restart it sudo systemctl status systemd-timesyncd

sudo systemctl restart systemd-timesyncd

sudo systemctl enable systemd-timesyncd

timedatectl show-timesync
